IMPORTANT: Schedule Change for Next Week and Testing Update March 23-27

Dear Alhambra High School Families,

I am writing to share an important update regarding our schedule for next week. I was informed today by our district office that our planned bell schedule for next week does not meet state requirements for testing and instructional minutes. Additionally, due to the high number of opt-out requests, we are currently not on track to meet the 95% state-mandated participation threshold.
 
Consequently, we are postponing testing for next week and moving it to a week following Spring Break. This delay will allow us to rectify the schedule and address the participation requirements necessary to remain in compliance with state regulations.

Next week will now be a regularly scheduled week for all students with the school day starting at 8:30 AM. I sincerely apologize for the disruptive nature of this change to our calendar and your family’s planning.

As previously noted, the high volume of juniors seeking to opt out of state testing has a direct effect on Alhambra High School’s standing and the entire district’s funding. It is my sincere hope that parents who have currently opted their students out of testing will reconsider, as these decisions now impact our entire community. Students who request an opt out will require a one on one meeting with administration and parent/guardian to validate their request. 

When we return from Spring Break, testing will be conducted during the regular school day taking place directly within History and English classes.
